Why don’t you focus more on politics? Do you hate politics?
I find politically dominant conversations divide people. Folks come to argue, fuss, bicker, & no one is helped in their day to day lives. There’s enough of that out there for you, if that’s what you want. I care more about helping folks live better lives & have better relationships with others. In my personal life, I am heavily into politics – locally, not just federally. I take my civic duty seriously but don’t need to get online & express this.
Who are you and what is your name?
My name is MVOTV & I am a podcaster who loves ABC’s ‘The View’. I consider myself an OG ViewER! Due to safety concerns on the internet, I do not share my personal information anymore and I ask that others respect this.
I keep my personal details private and separate from my “internet life.” Also, I’m against the cult of personality & the promotion of self. I have no desire to “make a name” for myself or have my likeness plastered all over the internet. That’s odd in this day & time I know, because most strive for this. Too many folks make themselves the center of attention instead of helping others first & allowing the information they share be the focus of folks attention.
Many crave attention, applause, acceptance, & “fans & followers”; therefore their name & likeness is everywhere. I believe in letting the information take center stage, not my likeness or personality.
**Welcome Back to My View on The View: Celebrating Advocacy and the Power of Community**
Hello, everyone! Welcome back to another episode of “My View on The View,” where we dive deep into the discussions and moments that shape our lives, inspired by the iconic ABC show, “The View.” I’m your host, mvotv, and I’m thrilled to have you join me as we explore the intersection of celebrity, advocacy, and the everyday experiences that connect us all. If you have any questions about me or the format of this broadcast, feel free to check the description box below.
Today, we have some incredible news that has resonated across the nation. This morning, President Biden announced that WNBA star Brittany Griner is finally on her way home after enduring months of unjust detention in Russia. The circumstances surrounding her imprisonment were intolerable, and the news of her return is a beacon of hope for her family, friends, and fans alike. As we celebrate this moment, it’s essential to recognize the behind-the-scenes efforts that contributed to her release, particularly the advocacy work done by Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin on “The View.”
The Power of Advocacy
During the episode where this news broke, Whoopi and Sunny shared their involvement in the efforts to bring Brittany home. It was a powerful reminder of how influential public figures can be when they use their platforms for good. Whoopi revealed that she had been in contact with the White House, making calls and advocating for Brittany’s release. This kind of activism is not new for Whoopi; she has a long history of standing up for what is right, whether it’s addressing social injustices or advocating for marginalized communities.
Sunny, too, has been a vocal advocate, serving on the board of the WNBA Advocates Committee. Her commitment to the cause of women in sports and her dedication to ensuring that athletes receive the respect and pay they deserve is commendable. The fact that both women were actively involved in the discussions surrounding Brittany’s release highlights the importance of celebrity activism in today’s world.
The Role of Media in Advocacy
The media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion and bringing attention to important issues. “The View” has consistently used its platform to discuss pressing topics, from social justice to women’s rights. The show’s format allows for diverse perspectives, and the hosts often engage in passionate discussions that resonate with viewers. This morning’s episode was no exception, as Whoopi and Sunny’s heartfelt conversation about Brittany’s situation underscored the urgency of advocacy.
It’s easy to forget that behind the glitz and glamour of celebrity life, many public figures are deeply committed to making a difference. Whoopi and Sunny’s actions serve as a reminder that advocacy can take many forms, and every effort counts. Whether it’s making phone calls to government officials or raising awareness through social media, each action contributes to a larger movement for change.
The Importance of Community Support
As we celebrate Brittany’s return, it’s essential to acknowledge the support of the community that rallied around her during her time in detention. The outpouring of love and support from fans, fellow athletes, and advocates played a significant role in keeping her story alive. Social media campaigns, petitions, and public demonstrations all contributed to the pressure on government officials to take action.
This sense of community is vital in the fight for justice. When individuals come together to support a common cause, they amplify their voices and create a collective impact. Brittany’s situation is a testament to the power of community advocacy, and it serves as an inspiration for all of us to stand up for what we believe in.
The Broader Implications for Women in Sports
Brittany’s case also highlights the ongoing issues surrounding women in sports, particularly in terms of pay equity and respect. Whoopi pointed out that Brittany was in Russia for a reason: to play basketball and earn a living. The disparities in pay and treatment between male and female athletes are glaring, and Brittany’s experience sheds light on the need for systemic change in the sports industry.
As we reflect on Brittany’s journey, it’s crucial to advocate for policies that ensure fair treatment and compensation for all athletes, regardless of gender. The conversations sparked by her situation can lead to meaningful change, and it’s up to all of us to keep the momentum going.
Moving Forward: A Call to Action
As we wrap up today’s episode, I encourage you to take action in your own communities. Whether it’s advocating for a cause you’re passionate about, supporting local organizations, or simply raising awareness on social media, every effort counts. Let’s continue to celebrate the power of advocacy and the impact we can have when we come together.
Thank you for tuning in to “My View on The View.” I hope you found today’s discussion enlightening and inspiring. Don’t forget to give this episode a thumbs up, share it with your friends, and subscribe to the YouTube channel for more content.
