Jamie Foxx Addresses Health Scare and Dismisses Conspiracy Theories Involving Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

In April 2023, actor and musician Jamie Foxx experienced a serious medical emergency while filming the Netflix movie Back in Action in Atlanta. Foxx suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke, resulting in a 20-day coma. His daughter, Corinne Foxx, initially announced that he was hospitalized due to a “medical complication” and was on the road to recovery.

During his hospitalization, Foxx was heavily sedated and under the influence of strong pain medications. In this altered state, he accessed his phone and discovered a myriad of conspiracy theories circulating online about his condition. Among the most prominent was the unfounded claim that music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs had orchestrated an attempt on his life.

Foxx addressed these rumors directly in a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, stating, “I’m in perfect shape. I see things like, ‘Puffy tried to kill me.’ No, Puffy didn’t try to kill me.” He also humorously recounted hallucinations induced by his medication, including a vivid experience where he believed he had been cloned and turned white, leading him to joke with his psychiatrist about the situation.

Further elaborating on the conspiracy theories, Foxx used his 2024 Netflix comedy special, What Had Happened Was…, to debunk the claims with his characteristic humor. He jested about leaving Diddy’s parties early, saying, “The internet said Puffy was trying to kill me, that’s what the internet was saying. I know what you’re thinking, ‘Diddy?’ Hell no, I left them parties early.”
