John Cena and his farewell tour will continue after WrestleMania 41 as WWE announced his appearance for the May show scheduled in Paris.

The retirement or the last dance of John Cena was announced by him back in 2024, and it has been expected that the final match of this retirement tour will be WrestleMania 41.

However, recent updates are hinting at a bigger plan.

The recent updates on the WWE Network are around the show in France, and they have already mentioned that John Cena will make an appearance there.

According to some, the last dance lasted longer than it should have.

This could be a typical move from the WWE, just pushing the knob and trying to get the most out of a superstar in business aspects.

However, they are somewhere milking the farewell tour dry by snatching at every opportunity they can to feature John Cena one last time.

John Cena and his never-ending last dance

In July 2024, during Money in the Bank, John Cena made the announcement of his farewell, and this has continued in 2025, and he will feature at WrestleMania 41 in one of the main events against Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship.

However, the WWE creative team thinks it’s not enough, and they have already named him for the upcoming event in France.

Apart from him, some other WWE superstars named in the event are Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Gunther, and Rhea Ripley.

With this announcement, the speculations around WrestleMania 41, being the last match of John Cena’s career, are thrown out the window, and the WWE superstar is set for another fight.

However, the more they stretch this, the more it will lose its importance as a farewell tour.

If it is scrutinized, it is nothing new, but a similar pattern that WWE has followed throughout the year, and it has been one of the major tricks in their bag to produce business.

John Cena, after the Elimination Chamber, has already made his appearance in Glasgow and will headline WrestleMania in Las Vegas.

Now, after the announcement of their appearance in the backlash, he will have to make a trip to Paris.

This has been the story of every WWE superstar who brought an audience to them.

WWE is churning the most from a superstar

From the early 90s, if a superstar performed and brought in audience engagement, then he was appreciated by the franchise and by the CEO himself, Vince McMahon.

The appreciation came in with a lot of money, however also with a jam-packed schedule.

There are numerous documentaries online where former WWE wrestlers have mentioned their continuous flights and no time to relax or to get good sleep.

This was all mixed with substance abuse, and many WWE superstars, including Chris Benoit, paid a high price for that.

Jeff Hardy, who gained popularity because of spectacular air moves, had to make continuous appearances because of his proud engagement, and his body took a toll.

He was prescribed painkillers, and he turned to abusing them very quickly.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, one of the biggest names of the Attitude Era, also had a history of alcohol abuse when he was under pressure to perform and had to manage immense fame.

Lex Luger was a WWE legend, but the pressure got to him as well.

The concern about his performance and his physique led him to substance abuse.

However, he turned it around after a spiritual awakening, but not everyone recovers.

The whole blame does not fall on WWE, but the busy and tight schedule has always played a part in all these cases.

It is hoped that they would stop milking John Cena for any more business in the name of his farewell tour and would end it in a way that the WWE legend deserves.

All eyes will be on Cena when he steps inside the ring to face Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.

WrestleMania 41 is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, and Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 7 PM (ET)/4 PM (PT), streaming live on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix everywhere else.
