Whoopi Goldberg Forced to Shut Down Sunny Hostin’s Outrageous Climate Change Conspiracy on The View!

In an unexpected moment on The View, co-host Sunny Hostin found herself quickly shut down by Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar after making an outlandish claim linking the recent solar eclipse and an earthquake to climate change.

The comments, which were immediately met with confusion and skepticism from her fellow panelists, sent shockwaves through viewers, leading to widespread criticism on social media.

Sunny Hostin The View

On Monday’s episode, the panel discussed the recent events of a 4.8 magnitude earthquake hitting New York, a rare solar eclipse visible across North America, and the impending arrival of trillions of cicadas.

Hostin took the opportunity to weave them all into a conspiracy theory, suggesting that these occurrences were signs of climate change, asking, “Is something really going on?”

The conversation began with Hostin recounting a moment when the show’s makeup artist, reacting to the earthquake, dramatically exclaimed, “Jesus is coming, I’m out, I’m leaving.”

Hostin went on to tie the solar eclipse and the cicada invasion to climate change, claiming that “all those things together would maybe lead one to believe that either climate change exists, or something is really going on.”

BGUK_2688532 - Los Angeles, CA - Whoopi Goldberg walks off The View stage during Miranda Lambert debate, telling her co-hosts: ???I'm leaving y'all!??? Whoopi Goldberg has had it with The View's day of Hot Topics - enough so that she hilariously left the table in the middle of a heated discussion to take a selfie with a 91-year-old audience member. During a panel debate over Miranda Lambert scolding a group of concertgoers for taking photos during her Las Vegas residency show, cohost Sunny Hostin said that she's ???going to take as many selfies as I want if I paid $757 for tickets,??? which prompted Goldberg to clap back. The Oscar winning star said: "You know what? Stay home. If you're going to spend $750 to come to my concert, then give me the respect of watching me while I do my thing, or don't come." After Hostin said that she likes to keep memories from concerts on her phone to rewatch, Goldberg got up from her moderator seat and said??? "Turn on the television, girl." As the 67 year-old walked toward the audience, Joy Behar asked where she was going. "I'm leaving y'all!" Goldberg declared while making her way to the first row of seats in the studio audience. "I want to take a picture with this marvelous woman, who is 91. So, we're going to do a selfie. Just me and you," Goldberg said while approaching the woman. "Will you push that button? We'll be right back." Whoopi???s selfie bit might've been all in good fun, but Lambert's fans appear to be split on the residency incident. Some criticized the country superstar for being rude to her supporters, while others claimed that the photo-taking attendees were being rude to those around them trying to enjoy the show. *BACKGRID DOES NOT CLAIM ANY COPYRIGHT OR LICENSE IN THE ATTACHED MATERIAL. However, Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t having any of it.

She swiftly interrupted, explaining that eclipses were a predictable astronomical event, not an ominous sign, and noted that cicadas emerge every 13 to 17 years as part of their natural lifecycle.

“The eclipse, they’ve known about the eclipse coming because eclipses happen.

They actually can say when these things are going to happen,” Goldberg said, visibly baffled by Hostin’s theory.

Joy Behar, equally incredulous, jumped in to correct Hostin, emphasizing that earthquakes are not influenced by climate change since they occur underground.

The back-and-forth continued as Goldberg reiterated, “God doesn’t give you warning,” dismissing the idea that the eclipse or the cicadas were in any way linked to climate change or impending disaster.

ABC's "The View" - Season 20

The moment quickly went viral, with viewers taking to social media to voice their shock and amusement over Hostin’s claims.

“Sunny Hostin tried to blame cicadas, earthquakes, and the eclipse on climate change.

Doesn’t get much dumber than that,” wrote one Twitter user, while another commented, “Sunny deserves all the mockery she’s getting.

Whoopi and Joy were right to call her out.”

The View's Sunny Hostin Is “Disgusted” By Donald Trump's “Racist” Deportation Tactics: “They Are Racially Profiling”

Hostin’s comments were particularly controversial given that two broods of cicadas are set to emerge in the U.S. this spring after 13 and 17 years underground, an event that has happened periodically for centuries and is entirely natural.

The massive emergence of cicadas has been a cause of fascination and concern in various regions, but it is not a rare environmental anomaly as Hostin suggested.

As the clip of the heated exchange continued to circulate online, many viewers were left questioning how the panel’s discussion had veered so far off course.

“Is Sunny Hostin the dumbest person on television?” one commentator wrote, while others couldn’t help but point out that even Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar—two of the most outspoken and unfiltered personalities in daytime television—were forced to step in and correct her.

This incident marks the latest in a series of heated moments on The View, a show known for its lively debates and strong personalities.

While the incident may have added to the show’s drama, it also highlighted the growing divide between those who embrace a more grounded approach to discussing climate and environmental issues, and those who resort to sensationalized, unproven theories.

For now, the internet is buzzing with reactions, and the conversation around climate change, conspiracy theories, and The View’s controversial moments continues to unfold in real-time.

One thing is for sure: this explosive exchange will not be forgotten anytime soon.
