Sunny Hostin Fires Back at Meghan McCain’s Scathing Column About ‘The View’

Sunny Hostin didn’t hold back when responding to Meghan McCain’s latest criticisms of The View.

The co-host addressed McCain’s biting Daily Mail column during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, making it clear she’s unbothered by her former colleague’s harsh words.

When Cohen asked about McCain’s claim that The View was a “toxic” environment that she would never return to, Hostin took a sip of her martini and quipped, “Oh, let me take a drink.

” While she admitted she hadn’t read the piece herself, she was well aware of its contents.

Hostin, ever the diplomat, defended The View, calling it a “wonderful place.

” However, she couldn’t resist throwing a bit of shade, especially when discussing McCain’s outspoken husband, conservative commentator Ben Domenech.

“I know her husband likes to mean-tweet about me, which is shocking,” Hostin said with a smirk.

“But Meg and I have always been friendly. We are still friends.”

Then, in a surprising twist, Hostin playfully suggested a new career move for McCain—reality TV.

“I don’t think she’s doing television anymore,” Hostin noted.

“I think you should hire her for one of the Housewives franchises.

She’d be great on Potomac or any of them.”

McCain’s original column painted The View as an overly controlled environment where certain political topics were off-limits due to the personal histories of the show’s longtime hosts.

She alleged she wasn’t allowed to discuss Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s blackface scandal because of Joy Behar’s past Halloween costume controversy or Whoopi Goldberg’s ex, Ted Danson, famously wearing blackface in 1993.

Despite McCain’s grievances, sources close to The View told Entertainment Weekly that all co-hosts and producers collectively decide on topics before each show—debunking any notion that McCain was silenced.

While The View itself has yet to respond to McCain’s claims, Hostin’s subtle jabs and lighthearted deflection on Cohen’s show suggest she’s not losing any sleep over her former co-host’s grievances.
