“No Pain, All Gain”: White House Claims Trump’s New Tariffs Will Spark Economic Renaissance

The White House is doubling down on its bold economic vision as President Donald Trump rolls out sweeping reciprocal tariffs on dozens of countries, promising they will usher in a new “golden age of America” with minimal fallout for U.S. workers.

“There’s not going to be any pain for American-owned companies and American workers,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on NewsNation’s “Morning in America”.

“Their jobs are going to come back home.”

Tariffs on Liberation Day: A Price for Sovereignty?

Dubbed by Trump supporters as “Liberation Day,” Wednesday’s announcement marked a dramatic escalation in Trump’s economic nationalism.

The policy includes tariffs on approximately 60 countries, most set at 50% of the rate those nations levy on American goods.

A 10% universal tariff applies to all others.

“This is a proven economic formula that works,” Leavitt insisted.

“The American people trust Trump—that’s why they sent him back to the White House.”

But not everyone is buying it.

Republican Senators Break Ranks

In a rare display of bipartisan resistance, four Republican senators—Rand Paul (KY), Susan Collins (ME), Lisa Murkowski (AK), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY)—joined Democrats in passing a resolution to block the new 25% tariff on Canadian imports.

“We must distinguish between our allies and our adversaries,” Murkowski warned.

“Treating them the same way weakens our credibility.”

White House Cites ‘Success’ of First-Term Tariffs

To bolster support, the White House released a series of studies touting the success of Trump’s first-term tariffs, citing favorable data from the U.S. International Trade Commission and the Economic Policy Institute.

“We saw growth, we saw jobs return, and we saw global respect for our economic sovereignty,” Leavitt argued.

Trump’s Deportation Policy Faces Legal Scrutiny

Meanwhile, the administration continues to face legal challenges on the immigration front.

A federal judge is demanding answers over deportation flights that allegedly violated court orders, specifically involving suspected Tren de Aragua gang members.

One such case, involving Salvadoran national Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia—wrongfully deported despite prior asylum protections—has ignited backlash.

“Although Abrego Garcia was found removable, the immigration judge granted him withholding of removal in 2019,” the Department of Justice acknowledged in a filing this week.

Despite the error, Leavitt remained firm: “We have always maintained that this was an individual who was on the deportation list and should have been deported.”

Gold Prices Spike Amid Market Jitters

As economic uncertainty looms, investors are flocking to safe havens.

Gold prices surged following the tariff announcement, signaling deep market skepticism despite the White House’s reassurances.

White House Denies Musk Rift Amid Reports of Exit

Adding fuel to an already dramatic week, Politico reported that Elon Musk may be on his way out of the Trump administration amid rising tensions and concerns over his “unpredictability.”

Leavitt dismissed the report as “fake news,” insisting: “The president and Elon have both said publicly that Elon will leave when the mission of DOGE is complete.”

Musk, who serves as a special government employee, is nearing the end of his 130-day term next month.
