A Legacy of Breaking Barriers

Mia Love made history in 2014 when she was elected to represent Utah’s 4th Congressional District, becoming the first Black Republican woman to serve in Congress.

Her political journey began in Saratoga Springs, Utah, where she first entered public service while tackling a local mosquito infestation.

During her time in Congress, Love became the only Republican member of the Congressional Black Caucus, an influential group dedicated to advancing policies that help Black Americans and marginalized communities achieve the American Dream.

After narrowly losing re-election in 2018, Love transitioned to political commentary, becoming a CNN analyst, where she continued to share her expertise and perspective on national issues.

A Courageous Battle Against Cancer

In 2022, Love was diagnosed with glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of brain cancer.

The disease rapidly invades healthy brain tissue, and survival rates remain devastatingly low.

The MD Anderson Cancer Center estimates that most GBM patients survive only 1.5 to 2 years, with just a 10% survival rate beyond five years.
