Ellen DeGeneres is making a dramatic break from her American roots, officially offloading one of her last properties in the U.S. as she and wife Portia de Rossi settle into their new life in the English countryside.

SELLING AMERICA, EMBRACING ENGLAND

Ellen and Portia initially listed their two-bedroom, two-bathroom Spanish bungalow for $4.995 million on March 10, just over four years after purchasing it for $2.9 million.

The property sparked intense interest, and within just two days, multiple offers poured in, ultimately leading to a swift sale at $5.2 million.

This isn’t the couple’s only recent real estate move.

In January, they also relisted a larger Montecito estate for $29.9 million, further signaling their intent to sever ties with their American holdings and fully embrace life across the pond.

LUXURY LIVING—AND UNEXPECTED CHALLENGES IN THE UK

Ellen and Portia’s new $18 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds, a picturesque region in southwest England, seemed like the perfect escape. But their idyllic country dream has already faced unexpected challenges.

Flooding Woes: Torrential rain left their valley submerged, with nearby rivers bursting their banks. While Ellen reassured that their home remained dry, the surrounding floodwaters have raised concerns about long-term livability.
Neighborhood Drama: The couple has also encountered planning disputes with locals, who have reportedly taken issue with certain renovations.

SEARCHING FOR A NEW RETREAT

Sources claim that Ellen and Portia are already looking for another countryside home, potentially abandoning their original UK base for a property more in line with their California lifestyle.

One local insider told MailOnline:

“They’ve had several issues with the place they initially moved into—first the flooding, then neighborhood complaints about building work. So, they’ve started looking elsewhere, and they seem to have found something that suits them better.”

Ellen and Portia have been spotted multiple times at a new property, engaging with neighbors and appearing increasingly serious about making another move.
