On Monday, January 7, the beloved meteorologist announced the release of her latest title, A Peek Out Your Window: My First Book of Weather, the newest addition to her wildly popular Misty the Cloud series.

A Book Inspired by Real-Life Weather Watching

Dreyer, who shares three sons—Calvin (7), Oliver (5), and Rusty (2)—with her husband, NBC News cameraman Brian Fichera, explained that the inspiration for this book came from a simple childhood activity: looking out the window.

“What do kids love more than anything? A lift-the-flap book!” she said with enthusiasm.

“And what’s the perfect flap to lift? A curtain or something covering a window!”

Illustrated by Rosie Butcher, who has worked on the entire Misty the Cloud series, the book aims to spark curiosity about the natural world by encouraging kids to observe the weather outside their own windows.

A Fun, Interactive Experience for Young Readers

As Dreyer flipped through the book live on air, her co-hosts cheered in excitement.

Hoda Kotb admired the creativity behind the window-flap design, while Carson Daly playfully asked for spoilers, joking, “What happens at the end? What happens to Misty?”

Dreyer laughed, sharing how she reads the book to her children before bedtime.

“They look outside and say, ‘It’s dark.

’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe I need to read this during the daytime!’” she joked.

A Non-Stop Celebration for the Busy Mom of Three

Beyond her latest book launch, Dreyer has been busy celebrating milestones at home.

She recently took to Instagram to share sweet moments from her son Oliver’s fifth birthday, which featured an adorable Bluey-themed party and a homemade birthday cake she baked herself.

 

“It’s an Ollie-Day! Happy Birthday to my sweet little guy who snuggles like no one else and loves getting lost in his own little world.

I’d love to spend a day in your brain.

I can’t believe you’re 5!! I love you so much!!” she wrote.
