‘Didn’t Earn It!’ Sunny Hostin Torches Trump, Calls Him a ‘DEI Hire’ Who Got the Presidency Through Nepotism

Sunny Hostin is taking aim at former President Donald Trump, accusing him of hypocrisy as he vows to eliminate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies while having allegedly benefited from a lack of meritocracy himself.

In a fiery segment on The View, Hostin blasted Trump, labeling him a “DEI hire”—but not for the reason one might expect.

Sunny Hostin claimed president Donald Trump is a 'DEI' hire and didn't earn the presidency with his own achievements

‘Trump Is the Ultimate Legacy Hire!’

Reacting to Trump’s recent executive order dismantling DEI policies across federal agencies, Hostin didn’t hold back.

“Donald Trump talking about this country being a meritocracy? This is a man who didn’t become president because of merit,” she declared.

“He had zero political experience before winning the White House.

He was handed everything.

He’s a legacy hire.

If anything, he is a DEI hire—a ‘Didn’t Earn It’ hire.”

Hostin’s remarks sparked a heated discussion on the panel, where she drew a stark contrast between Trump’s vision for America and the principles of Martin Luther King Jr.

'Donald Trump saying things that this country would be a meritocracy, you¿re talking about a man who didn¿t become the president of the United States because of merit,' Hostin said

MLK’s Legacy vs. Trump’s America

Hostin took particular issue with the timing of Trump’s inauguration, calling it an insult to Dr.King’s legacy.

“The hypocrisy of inaugurating Trump on the same day we commemorate MLK is sickening,” she said.

“Martin Luther King fought for racial and economic equality, and here comes Trump, on this day, pushing policies that actively destroy that progress.”

Quoting Dr. King, Hostin reminded viewers of his words: ‘It’s all right to tell a man to lift himself by his own bootstraps, but it is cruel to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself by his own bootstraps.

She then doubled down, calling for reparations for Black Americans, arguing that systemic injustices must be addressed rather than erased.

Hostin told her fellow panelists how instead of watching the inauguration, she indulged in some 'Buffalo Wild Wings' - adding how she couldn't look past 'the hypocrisy of having a man be inaugurated to be president on this same day as we commemorate MLK'

Trump Wages War on DEI—Orders Mass Layoffs

Trump wasted no time fulfilling his pledge to eradicate DEI policies from the federal government.

Within 24 hours of taking office, his administration issued a sweeping order: all DEI hires across federal agencies must be placed on paid leave by 5 p.m.

Wednesday. Entire DEI departments will be shut down, sending a clear message that diversity initiatives have no place in Trump’s government.

The move, cheered by his supporters, has drawn sharp criticism from civil rights advocates who say it will erase decades of progress.

Hostin Slams Celebrities for Supporting Trump

Not stopping there, Hostin also went after celebrities who performed at Trump’s inaugural events, including hip-hop legends Snoop Dogg and Nelly.

“Snoop and Nelly performing for Trump? That’s betrayal,” she fumed.

“It’s embarrassing.”

Joy Behar chimed in, calling out country star Carrie Underwood for “normalizing” Trump by taking part in the celebrations.

Meanwhile, Hostin revealed she refused to watch Trump’s inauguration, instead choosing to enjoy Buffalo Wild Wings rather than stomach the spectacle.

The View’s Open Support for Biden-Harris

Hostin and her co-hosts have been vocal supporters of the Biden-Harris administration.

In a candid moment, Hostin even admitted to giving Kamala Harris an easy ride during a previous interview.

“I gave her a softball question—’How would you be different from Biden?’” Hostin recalled.

“And even then, she couldn’t come up with an answer.”

As the political battle between Trump and his critics intensifies, one thing is clear: Sunny Hostin isn’t backing down, and she’s making sure her voice is heard loud and clear.
