Dick Van Dyke Wants to Make Cameo on A Man on the Inside with Ted Danson
The 99-year-old actor is not slowing down

Season 2 of Ted Danson’s A Man on the Inside could see another famous face join the cast.
None other than Dick Van Dyke is a big fan of the Netflix comedy series that sees Danson, 77, play a retired professor who goes undercover for a private investigator inside a retirement home. Now, Van Dyke tells PEOPLE he’d be interested in making an appearance on the upcoming season.
When asked what shows he’s into right now that he could see himself guest starring in, the actor’s wife, Arlene Silver, revealed he’s a fan of the Danson-led series and that the couple is “good friends” with the 77-year-old TV vet.
“Yeah, I’m a big fan of Ted’s,” Van Dyke, 99, says. “And the show’s good.”
The actor’s interest in the series comes weeks after Netflix announced that Danson’s wife, Mary Steenburgen, has joined the cast of season 2.
Steenburgen, 72, will play “a former musician who factors heavily into the case” that Danson’s character Charles is working on, per the streamer.

Whether it’s with Danson or not, Van Dyke is eager to keep working even as he approaches his landmark 100th birthday in December.
“I love what I do for a living,” he told PEOPLE at the Dick & Arlene Van Dyke Present Vandy Camp event earlier this month.
He’s not so keen on travel, though, which is more than far. “If it’s traveling, that’s the hard part,” he said. “I’m too old to travel and all that.”
“If they come to our house, he will work all the time,” his wife said.

Van Dyke’s desire to keep acting echoes how Danson feels too — and why he felt so drawn to the “conversation” A Man on the Inside started, “which is life doesn’t end until it ends, so keep going.”
“We get to explore aging, all those things that, in this country, sometimes we’re afraid to talk about, memory loss, everything, we broach with a tenderness and a seriousness still contained in a kind of light-hearted, joyful way,” he told PEOPLE.
“I’m so happy because I’m 76 and I get to be part of this conversation, which is becoming more and more of my conversation in life.”
A Man on the Inside is now streaming on Netflix.
