“Caffeine? Alcohol? Happiness? All Gone!” — Susanna Reid’s Extreme Health Kick Leaves Viewers Stunned (and Piers Morgan in Stitches)

It seems there’s no limit to what Susanna Reid is willing to sacrifice in the name of health — including, apparently, joy itself.

Ditching the coffee: Susanna Reid, 47, has continued her health kick into 2019, announcing on Monday's Good Morning Britain that she has now eliminated caffeine from her diet

The Good Morning Britain host, 47, shocked viewers this week after revealing she has now completely eliminated caffeine from her life, adding to her growing list of banned substances which already includes alcohol and milk.

Appearing on Monday’s show — visibly slimmer but audibly struggling — Susanna confessed that her New Year’s resolution was to ditch coffee altogether, despite her grueling 3:45am wake-up call for the ITV breakfast programme.

And nobody was more gleefully unsupportive than her ever-outspoken co-host, Piers Morgan.

“She’s Never Been Healthier — Just Look at the State of Her!”

Within seconds of her revelation, Piers launched into a characteristically brutal takedown of his co-star’s new clean-living crusade.

“She’s never been healthier,” he scoffed, gesturing at a coughing, spluttering Susanna, “Just look at the state of her.

Three months of not eating, not drinking, not living — and now she’s wheezing her way through the show like an old car running out of petrol.”

Viewers — and co-host Charlotte Hawkins — were left asking the obvious question: Is there anything left for Susanna to give up?

“Very soon,” Piers quipped, “you’ll be giving up life itself.

And as they lower you into the ground you’ll be saying: ‘I’ve never been happier! No booze, no coffee, no food, no fun — but at least I’m dead healthy.

Happy New Year everybody!’”

The Price of Perfection? A Kale Salad and Fizzy Water Misery

Susanna’s ascetic lifestyle overhaul began last year when doctors warned her she was at the top end of a healthy BMI.

The advice hit home, leading her to cut alcohol and even the humble splash of milk from her coffee — a tip she credited to boxer Tyson Fury.

But the struggle has been real.

Reid admitted that swapping a relaxing glass of wine for fizzy water left her cold.

“It doesn’t knock the edge off things,” she sighed during a previous segment.

“I was desperate for a drink.”

Her dedication has paid off — she’s lost a stone (14 pounds) and proudly shows off her svelte figure on the GMB sofa — but at what cost?

The Viewers Are Divided

Fans of the presenter have applauded her determination and discipline, with many praising her transformation.

Others, however, are firmly Team Piers, wondering if giving up life’s small pleasures is really worth the suffering.

Looking great: Susanna has been proudly flaunting her svelte new shape as she hosts the show, yet she has been ribbed by her co-host in his typical cheeky style

“You can look great — but at what price?” one viewer tweeted.

“No caffeine, no alcohol, no fun? That’s not a health kick, that’s a hostage situation.”

Still, Susanna remains defiant — and perhaps even a little smug — as she powers through early mornings on herbal tea and sheer willpower.

Health kick: The TV host gave up alcohol last autumn after her doctor told her that she had a 'top heavy BMI'

Is this the future of clean living — or just another fleeting detox fad destined to crash and burn in a haze of espresso martinis?

Only time (and perhaps Piers Morgan) will tell.
