Aloe Blacc Reveals Avicii’s Biggest Lesson: The Unbreakable Dedication That Defined a Legend!

The world will never forget Avicii, the genius producer behind “Wake Me Up”, and Aloe Blacc is making sure his legacy lives on.

At the Opry 100: A Live Celebration in Nashville on March 19, Blacc, 46, opened up exclusively about the most powerful lesson he learned from his late collaborator, who tragically passed away in 2018.

Avicii’s Relentless Work Ethic: “He Was There to Deliver”

Blacc recalled a moment in Miami when he truly understood Avicii’s unmatched dedication.

“I remember we were at a party, and there was this huge entourage—management’s friends, hangers-on. But Avicii? He didn’t care. He sat in a corner, put on his headphones, and worked on his set,” Blacc shared.

Unlike many artists who get caught up in the glamour of fame, Avicii stayed laser-focused on his craft.

“He wasn’t there to party—he was there to deliver what he was supposed to deliver. That dedication, that refusal to settle for ‘good enough,’ was something I’ll never forget.”

A Heartfelt Tribute: Keeping Avicii’s Spirit Alive

Following Avicii’s tragic passing at 28, Blacc shared a heartfelt tribute on X (formerly Twitter):

“Meeting him changed my life. He was an amazingly talented person, and it hurts so bad that he’s gone.”

Blacc later honored Avicii by performing at the Avicii Tribute Concert in Stockholm in 2019, where over 50,000 fans gathered to celebrate his music.

Now, he’s paying tribute once again—this time, with a country-style rendition of “Wake Me Up,” recorded with country star Cooper Alan.

“Wake Me Up” Goes Country: A Bold New Tribute

Released in December 2024, the reimagined version of the duo’s smash hit adds a new dimension to the song’s already powerful message.

“We wrote a couple of songs together, and then Cooper was like, ‘What if we reinterpret “Wake Me Up” with a country feel?’” Blacc shared.

The result? A fresh, emotional take on the track that honors Avicii’s legacy while introducing the song to a new generation of fans.
