Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is opening up about what sparked his disdain for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and JAY-Z.
The rapper-filmmaker sat down for a lengthy interview for The Hollywood Reporter’s new cover story, which arrived on Wednesday, July 31. During the conversation, Jackson described the events that fueled his ongoing beef with the Bad Boy founder. The Queens, N.Y. native has shaded Diddy on social media for years, but his attacks increased this year after multiple lawsuits were filed against Diddy over alleged sexual assaults.
“I’ve been very vocal about not going to Puffy parties and doing s**t like that,” Jackson began. “It’s just an uncomfortable energy connected to it.”
“He asked to take me shopping,” he said about the moment he knew something was odd about Diddy. “I thought that was the weirdest s**t in the world because that might be something that a man says to a woman. And I’m just like, ‘Naw, I’m not f**king with this weird energy or weird s**t,’ coming off the way he was just moving. From that, I wasn’t comfortable around him.”
Jackson recalled the moment he saw the horrifying video of Diddy beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel when it surfaced in May. He shamed the music mogul for initially denying the claims Cassie made in a bombshell lawsuit she filed last November. Diddy denied claims that several alleged victims made in lawsuits filed this year. However, Diddy reportedly took responsibility for his actions in the gruesome video in an apologetic video he posted to social media (and recently deleted).
The drama surrounding Diddy’s legal issues will be covered in Jackson’s upcoming Netflix documentary reportedly called Diddy Do It? Jackson explained that he’s the best person, especially within Hip-Hop culture, who can accurately tell the story behind Diddy’s alleged history of abuse. However, he also acknowledged that he faced accusations of abuse from his son’s mother Daphne Joy. Her allegations came amid the former couple’s custody case for their son Sire. However, she recently removed her claims from social media.
“It is damaging,” Jackson said. “It is damaging just to have anything said about you at this point. Because you have people out there who don’t believe in your intentions, and if things are going in a positive direction for you and something pops up, they go (gasps), ‘This is what we have been waiting for.’ For entertainment purposes, they exploit that as much as possible, but there is no merit to it.”
Later on in the interview, Jackson also opened up about his performance at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige. The “Many Men” rapper appeared as a surprise guest, but he also accused JAY-Z’s Roc Nation of trying to leave him out of the performance.
“[Roc Nation] didn’t want me there,” Jackson said. “Yeah, they didn’t want me there. Eminem wouldn’t do it without me. That’s how I ended up on the show because he was not coming if I didn’t do it. When that happens, you go, ‘Damn, so you just lost Eminem because you didn’t bring 50? Damn. All right. Bring 50 then.’ But if it was up to them, they would not have me there. I’m the surprise. I’m not on the bill at all. But they couldn’t get Em to do it without me.”
Hov has also been ridiculed by Jackson on his social media platforms. Earlier this year, he posted an odd photo of JAY-Z’s face and claimed the decorated rapper and businessman is laying low until Diddy’s legal issues blow over. He made the post after Roc Nation canceled their annual brunch event during Grammy weekend earlier this year.
