The View’s Sunny Hostin in Turmoil as Surgeon Husband Stands Alone in Massive $450M Fraud Lawsuit!

The scandal surrounding The View co-host Sunny Hostin’s husband, Dr.Emmanuel Hostin, has intensified as he now faces the massive insurance fraud lawsuit without the support of his co-defendants, who have chosen to settle rather than fight in court.

The high-profile orthopedic surgeon now finds himself in a lonely legal battle against American Transit Insurance Company in what has been dubbed one of the largest RICO cases in New York history.

Hostin Stands His Ground While 141 Defendants Settle

Dr. Hostin has staunchly denied any wrongdoing, calling the allegations a “smear campaign,” but his fight has become increasingly uphill.

American Transit, which insures taxi, Uber, and Lyft drivers, alleges that Hostin and others fraudulently billed the company for unnecessary medical procedures in exchange for illegal kickbacks.

The insurer is seeking a staggering $450 million in damages.

Hostin, the owner of Hostin Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in midtown Manhattan, has until February 10 to formally respond to the legal complaint.

Sunny Hostin Fights Back: “They Are Targeting My Family!”

In a dramatic turn, Sunny Hostin, a lawyer and former prosecutor, has blasted the lawsuit, accusing American Transit of using her celebrity status to fuel a “disgusting media smear campaign.“

“They are harassing me and my family to distract from the fact that they don’t want to pay their medical bills,” Sunny Hostin told Page Six.

Dr. Hostin’s legal team, led by high-profile attorney Mark Geragos, has also gone on the offensive, demanding that American Transit publicly apologize and compensate the Hostin family for “reputational damage and emotional distress.”

Explosive Allegations: Fake Surgeries, Kickbacks & Insurance Schemes?

The lawsuit, originally filed in December, paints a damning picture. Dr. Hostin is accused of performing arthroscopic surgeries on accident victims unnecessarily, without first attempting more conservative treatments.

The insurer further claims Hostin profited from kickbacks through his alleged investment in Empire State Ambulatory Surgery Center, where he referred patients in exchange for financial benefits.

According to the suit, Hostin treated two patients in January 2023 who had been in low-impact crashes—accidents that supposedly should have resulted in only minor soft-tissue injuries.

Yet, both underwent surgery within two months of their initial visits.

The lawsuit claims these procedures were unnecessary and purely profit-driven.

An Uphill Battle: Will Dr.Hostin Settle or Go Down Fighting?

While most co-defendants are opting to settle quietly, Hostin remains defiant.

His attorney Daniel Thwaites dismissed the case as “a meritless, blanket attack” by a struggling insurance company trying to avoid paying out claims.

“Dr.  Hostin has an impeccable record.  American Transit is abusing the legal system to intimidate doctors and limit healthcare access for accident victims,” Thwaites said.

Legal Experts Weigh In: “This Case Could Destroy Careers”

Some legal analysts believe the case could have devastating consequences for the medical professionals involved.

Attorney William Natbony, representing American Transit, told DailyMail.

com that fraud within New York’s “No-Fault” insurance system is rampant, costing insurers and drivers millions.

He insists Hostin must be held accountable.

Meanwhile, legal expert Steven Harfenist suggested the lawsuit was a “Hail Mary attempt” by American Transit to clear its debts by forcing doctors into settlements.
